American Graffiti

On Friday, March 26 at 8:00 pm, the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts continues the “Great Directors, Early Works” Film Series with George Lucas’ classic, American Graffiti shown on 35 mm film as it was originally released.

Before Star Wars and Indiana Jones, Lucas earned an Oscar nod with his iconic coming-of-age story featuring an all-star cast including Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, Mackenzie Phillips, Wolfman Jack and Harrison Ford among others.  Backed by a non-stop soundtrack comprising the era’s most memorable rock ‘n’ roll hits, American Graffiti journeys back to a simpler time – before JFK’s assassination, The Bay of Pigs, the Cuban Missile Crisis or Vietnam – full of drag racing, drive-in movies and trips to Inspiration Point.

As the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts continues to experiment with its entertainment offerings, the “Great Directors, Early Works” film series strives to fill a demand voiced by patrons for years.  Moviegoers have the opportunity to see classics for the first time – or the first time in a long time – on the big screen.

General admission tickets to American Graffiti are $7 with a special $6 rate for students, seniors and FRANK members.  Moviegoers are encouraged to come to the theater early for happy hour starting at 7:00 pm.  Visit motheatre.org for a detailed film series schedule with more films to be announced soon!
