The City of Columbia Special Events Committee will be reviewing the following special event applications at their next meeting, January 18 at 9 am in City Hall.
Earth Day Festival
Sunday, April 22 (rain date of April 29)
Area includes Peace Park, Elm St. between Sixth and Ninth, Eighth S. from Elm to Locust, and Seventh St. from Elm to Locust. The event will be from 12 noon to 7 pm and the streets would be closed from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm. The abutting merchants have signed off on the proposal. The CID Board has not yet reviewed this application.
Family Fun Fests
Wednesdays, April 3, May 16, June 20, July 18, Sept. 19
Area includes Flat Branch Park and Fourth St. between Cherry and Locust. The event will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm and the street would be closed from 4 pm to 9 pm. The CID Board has not yet reviewed this application.
Engineers' Club 5K/10K Run for MS
Sunday, March 11
Event will be held from 7 am to 11 am. Route will be a soft street closure with a hard closure on Rollins for the start/finish area. Most of the race will be on campus and the MKT save for Elm in between Ninth and Providence and Ninth between Conley and Elm. As this is a rolling street closure, signatures from affected businesses are not required.
Kappa Delta Pi 5K Run/Walk
Saturday, March 10
Event will be held from 9 am to 4 pm. Route will be a soft street closure throughout the campus area with the exception of Hitt from University to Elm, Elm from Hitt to Ninth, Ninth from Elm to Conley, Sixth from Conley to Elm, and Elm from Sixth to Providence. As this is a rolling street closure, signatures from affected businesses are not required.
