Street Closure Update
The City of Columbia Special Events Committee is in the process of reviewing the following special event application:
Jay Dix 5k/10k Run/Walk
Saturday, May 12
The race will begin and end at Fourth St. by Flat Branch Park. Runners will travel up Cherry and down Eighth to campus and will return to the park via Fifth. This will be a rolling street closure. A closure of Fourth St. between Cherry and Locust is being requested for the hours of 6:30 - 11:30 am for the start and finish of the race. Organizers are in the process of contacting abutting merchants. The CID Board has not yet reviewed this application but will likely do so at the 2/14 meeting.
Also, another event update:
Tiger Town
Although organizers of Tiger Town are still in the process of developing a footprint for the events to be held on the Saturdays of the four SEC games, they have told us that they will be requesting a street closure of some sort. They are in the process of forming a Tiger Town Committee with representatives from the Chamber, MU, the city, the CVB and the CID to develop the details. Any street closure they request will go through the normal channels--the city's Special Events Committee, the CID Board, and the City Council. We will keep you informed as soon as we hear something. Organizers are Greg Steinhoff, Rick Means and Bob Gerding. CID representatives on this committee are Allan Moore and Adam Dushoff.
