Tiger Town Update

A citizen’s committee has been formed by Tiger Town organizers Greg Steinhoff and Bob Gerding. Allan Moore and Adam Dushoff are the CID representatives. The committee is also planning on hiring an event organizer.

The current plan is to: Create a "Tiger Town" by placing tailgating on the MU surface lots around Sixth Street, closing 2 blocks of Eight Street, a block of Locust and a block of Seventh around the tailgating area to allow for vendors and beer tents; have individual street closures on SEC Saturdays by interested businesses; put out a city bid for businesses who’d like to rent out the top floor of two parking garages for parties; explore the possibility of open container waivers for the entire downtown; create a family fun area someplace on the MU campus, likely Carnahan Quad.

We are encouraging all District businesses to offer their input to the committee at this stage in the process, rather than waiting until the plans are set.

Note: The Tiger Town Committee is working on the larger street closures around Eighth St. The city is working on the parking garage proposal and will accept street closure requests from individual businesses. MU will be responsible for activities on campus, likely Carnahan Quad or Stankowski Field.
