FastCAT to offer free rides during Homecoming

The 107 FastCAT, Columbia Transit's newest route, will offer unlimited free rides during the University of Missouri- Columbia's football Homecoming weekend. Rides will be free Friday, Oct. 26 through Sunday, Oct. 28. The route runs until 2:30am both Friday and Saturday nights and from noon to 10:00pm on Sundays.

"We want students and residents to know that FastCAT is a safe and easy way to get around campus and downtown," said Mike Matthes, City Manager. "Homecoming is a busy time, and this is a great way to reduce the stress of parking and traffic. Park for free at our 5th and Walnut garage and let Columbia Transit drive this weekend."

FastCAT and ten other routes will run detours on Friday due to a road closure on Rollins between Hitt and Missouri as part of a spirit rally and outdoor concert put on by the university. The bus stop across the street from the student center will not be in service. Riders can catch FastCAT at any of the remaining 22 bus stops or in front of the Carnahan Plaza Fountain.

FastCAT will detour its southern loop Saturday to avoid traffic congestion on Hospital drive until two hours after the football game. Riders can catch a free ride to campus or downtown at the stop on Rollins in front of the student center.

The FastCAT buses can be tracked and the nearest bus stop can be found at RideFastCAT.com or with the RideFastCAT app available for download on android devices through the website or the Google Play store.
