Jazz in The District

She stands toe-to-toe with trumpeter Randy Brecker in a stunning and affirmative collaboration.  Their rapport is lucid, and their spontaneous exchanges often offer jewels of invention and exchange.

Join us on Thursday, Apr 7 for the next Jazz in the District performance featuring Lynne Arriale Quartet with Randy Brecker and the MU Concert Jazz Band.

Pianist Lynne Arriale, a Milwaukee native whose initial training and interest were in the classical field, remains a bit under the radar for the average jazz fan. However, those in the know have long been aware of her technical prowess, her creative spirit and her sense of originality on the bandstand as well as her interest in jazz education; witness her position as professor of jazz piano at the University of Florida, Jacksonville.

Arriale makes her inaugural Jazz Series appearance leading her Nuance Quartet, a gifted group that includes the wonderful Randy Brecker on trumpet and flugelhorn. Also accompanying her is the MU’s Concert Jazz Band.

At The Blue Note. Door open at 7:00 pm. For more info see the We Always Swing Jazz Series website.
